Research Study
Micro-encapsulated Probiotics vs. Uncoated

Many strategies have been developed to improve the number of viable bacterial delivered to the gut. A direct micro-encapsulation of probiotic cells with a gastro-protected material proved to be very effective in this regard.
This study, using five different bacteria, further strengthens the opportunity of using a lower number of certain strains if delivered in a special micro- encapsulated form able to confer a strong gastro-protection to the cells. In fact, it demonstrated that five times fewer viable cells could be used when protected in this manner compared to uncoated cells.
