Pomegranate, a plant originated from Mid-west Asia, is a deciduous small tree of Punicaceae. 2000 years ago, Zhangqian (an ancient diplomat of China) brought the Pomegranate into China, which was then cultivated in Xinjiang Province. Pomegranate is warmly welcome by Chinese since BCE 126 as a food and medicine. Currently, it is reported that pomegranate extract and juice concentration is rich in Tannins such as punicalagins, which have been identified as the primary components responsible for the reduction of oxidative stress. Punicalagins has also been found effective in reducing heart disease risk factors, including LDL oxidation oxidative status, and foam cell, all of which are steps in atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. With 8500+ ORAC value, Pomegranate is a superior anti-oxidant, whose function is anti-aging and whitening.
