Seed Health enters first retail partnership

Today microbiome science company Seed Health announced its debut at all Target stores nationwide and online, marking its entry into big-box retail.

Target will carry Seed's DS-01 Daily Synbiotic, PDS-08 Pediatric Daily Synbiotic and DS-01 14 Day Gut Reset.

“This is obviously an incredibly pivotal moment in our journey, not just in omnichannel growth, but really to bring advanced microbiome science to everyday health. We're thrilled about the expansion, so excited about what it means for growth and obviously the beginning of a lot of omnichannel strategy that you'll see from us over the coming years,” said co-CEO and co-founder Ara Katz.

Launching first at Target, DS-01 14 Day Gut Reset is a clinically validated two-week rapid synbiotic designed to quickly restore healthy gut function, strengthen the gut barrier, and replenish beneficial bacteria during times of occasional disruptions.

“We're really proud to have completed a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial evaluating the impact of DS-1 14-day Gut Reset on the microbiome of individuals experiencing occasional gut stress,” explained Chief Medical Officer Dr. Zain Kassam.

“We saw DS-01 significantly improved the gut microbiome composition and enriched beneficial bacteria 175-fold compared to a placebo. Importantly, number two, we saw an improvement in the gut barrier integrity and so we measured gut barrier integrity in both arms and we saw a 25% improvement in gut barrier integrity based on the gold standard biomarker at day seven compared to placebo, as well as a 49% improvement on long-term evaluation at day 91….and then lastly, number three, we saw improvement in the metabolites.”

Looking ahead, Katz said Seed will continue its omni-channel expansion, which will include other geographies. The company will also launch more products early next year.

“Product expansion and channel expansion are…reflective of what we've been talking about this whole time, which is that we've been incubating pretty exceptional science that really also widens and even expands the definition of how people even think about biotics and microbiome today,” said Katz.
