“We are seeing a move away from only ‘hair, skin and nails’ marketing for beauty-from-within to include other adjacent categories that are gaining traction via social media or other outlets.  We have seen things like greens, magnesium, sleep support products all receiving some sort of notoriety for beauty-from-within helping grow the category,” observed Dicker. “I am excited to see this correlating with the rise in the natural beauty segment. We have seen large growth in natural beauty, to the point where I predict it will transform the beauty industry at a faster rate than we experienced in food and beverage.  This is heavily contributed by the rise in  beauty-from-within ingredients going mainstream (think collagen).”

“I am very excited to participate in the webinar on beauty-from-within, and to talk about personalization of nutricosmetics based on the consumer’s biology and lifestyle. Also, an important point to consider is the growing role of technologies (digital and omics) in objective assessments of the supplement’s effect,” Khanin said.

“As we reported earlier this year, the medicalization of beauty is a trend we’re seeing across the cosmetics and personal care product spaces, and this includes the beauty-from-within space. One exciting trend I’ve seen in the BFW category is the launch of physician-backed beauty care supplement brands like the Clear Skin Supplement from Murad. As medical professionals are becoming increasingly visible in the social media marketing space for cosmetic and personal beauty care products, and ‘skinfluencers’ like James Charles become less popular, consumers are gravitating towards physician-backed brands with a greater sense of trust,” said Stern.

“2023 has been an interesting year for beauty-from-within. With Vogue highlighting ‘natural complexion as the new make-up’ as a hot trend this year along with minimalist approaches in skincare and less invasive microbiome-friendly products to help restore and balance skin barrier health, along with a growing consumer awareness on the influence of nutritional/natural health remedies and lifestyle/environmental factors have on how we look, feel and age; is placing ingestible beauty supplements (a.k.a nutricosmetics,) as an essential component for a growing number of holistic beauty and healthy aging brands. Body confidence vs body shaming and inclusive beauty for all people, lifestyles and at any age, is also tapping into the beauty-from-within market in a big way,” noted Simpson.
