NutraCast Podcast: Hemp Synergistics introduces ‘Intelligent Hemp Products’
With several nutraceutical companies incorporating cannabidiol (CBD) into their formulas, Hemp Synergistics recently introduced a patent-pending hemp dry powder called Bio-Dri to make the process more efficient.
Mark Mangieri, Director of Sales and Product Development at Hemp Synergistics, joined the NutraCast to tell us more about how their ‘Intelligent Hemp Products’ and their potential impact on the industry.
Mangieri said that the new Bio-Dri innovation helps solve the problems that nano-emulsified hemp oil and isolates present and also allows manufacturers to produce cannabinoid products across different delivery formats such as capsules or sports drinks.
With over five times the concentration of the average hemp oil powder, Mangieri explained that with Bio-Dri, just 8% of the capsule volume is used, creating additional room for manufacturers to add more ingredients into their formulation.
“It’s a brand new product, our official release is September 1st. So the impact is to be determined. But the freedom and flexibility this ingredient offers allows you to put let’s say 50mg of this Bio-Dri into a capsule that yields 25mg of CBD, and now you have 600-700mg of space to add complimentary ingredients. So it offers the formulators the freedom and flexibility.”
Another product, slated to be released in the fall, is the THC Recognition Unit (TRU). It is
a THC rapid field test kit that gives law enforcement a way to distinguish hemp from marijuana in less than five minutes.
“As of right now, there is no quick and easy field test to determine or disseminate between a marijuana bud and a hemp bud,” said Mangieri. “The chemical difference is significant, the physical difference is virtually zero. I personally would have a hard time telling the difference between the two.”
