New Hope Network, a division of Informa Markets, has announced that its Expo East trade show, which had been scheduled for late September in Philadelphia, has been cancelled.

Natural Products Expo West, the largest trade show in the dietary supplement and natural products industry and another Informa property, was the first trade show in the dietary supplements and natural foods industry this year to have to cancel because of the pandemic crisis.  The decision to cancel that show was made only hours before the first activities were to begin in early March. But with more information about coronavirus risks and infection curves New Hope managers were able to make this second cancellation decision with more lead time.

The company said it will refund in full money paid for badges and for education session registrations. The message on refunds for booth spaces or sponsorships, which can run into many thousands of dollars, was more equivocal, however.

“Our New Hope sales account managers will work with each exhibitor and sponsor on a credit or refund plan,” the company said in a statement announcing the cancellation, which was posted on the company’s website today.

In addition to the New Hope shows, Informa had been forced to cancel its ingredients-focused Supply Side East show which had been scheduled in April for Secaucus, NJ.  At this time the company says it still intends to put on its Supply Side West show, which is by far the larger of the two.  That show is scheduled for October 27-30, 2020 in Las Vegas, NV.
