The event, titled The Workshop: CRN’s Day of Science, will take place Nov. 6-9 at the Park Hyatt Aviara in Carlsbad. It will happen in tandem with The Conference: CRN’s Annual Symposium for the Dietary Supplement Industry.
The Workshop this year comprises two thematic sessions: 1) Optimizing nutrition to promote healthy aging; and 2) Advances in the development of nutrition research tools.
Among the distinguished experts on the agenda are Simin Meydani, D.V.M., Ph.D., and José M. Ordovás, Ph.D., from Tufts University’s Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Center on Aging. Dr. Meydani will discuss the impact of nutrition interventions on healthy aging. Other speakers in the healthy aging session will examine specific nutrients such as nicotinamide riboside for metabolic stress and vitamin K in bone and cardiovascular health, as well as other topics. Dr. Ordovás will discuss the role of genetics in phenotypic flexibility during the session on advances in research.
Also of note in the research session is speaker Mario Ferruzzi, Ph.D., of North Carolina State University, who will discuss research tools to assess the effect of phytonutrients on the microbiome.
