“We are currently working on building out a new quality landing page on our website that will include the USP GMP logo along with our other certifications and full quality story,” the spokesperson told NutraInrgedients-USA.
The California-based company said that the USP GMP Audit Program provides assurance that manufacturers go above and beyond the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)’s quality practices.
“USP is an authoritative source of GMP audits of dietary supplements manufacturers, not only because the United States Pharmacopeia-National Formulary (USP-NF) is recognized as an official compendium of scientific quality standards for dietary supplements and ingredients, but also because of USP's leadership specifically in the area of dietary supplement GMPs,” according to a statement from the company.
"We were pleased to pass our USP GMP audit and receive our USP GMP certificate," said Brent Eck, Metagenics CEO. "Our goal has always been to promote transparency, and participating in the USP GMP Audit Program is one more way we can show our commitment to manufacturing quality products that healthcare practitioners can trust."
Metagenics is layering up on certifications—in addition to completing the USP GMP audit, it is also certified for complying with NSF International’s GMPS, and its sports-positioned products are NSF International Certified for Sport.
Outside of the US, it has completed audits by the Australian Therapeutic Goods Authority and the Canada’s Natural and Non-Prescription Health Products Directorate.
