Special Edition: Blood Sugar Management
Amla
Standardized extracts of Phyllanthus emblica (amla) have been reported to significantly decrease fasting and post-prandial blood sugar levels after 21 days in both normal and diabetic people, according to findings of a clinical trial published in the International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition (2011, Vol 62, No. 6, pp. 609-616).
Another study, which used Natreon’s branded Capros ingredient found that 12 weeks of supplementation with 250 or 500 milligrams per day of the extract were found to improve endothelial function in people with type-2 diabetes to a similar level as observed for atorvastatin (Diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome and Obesity: Targets and Therapy, Volume 2013:6 Pages 275-284).
