Zipongo: Working on health and nutrition
Zipongo is a nutrition platform that offers “real-time support” for all the places a person makes food decisions: at home, work, at the supermarket and in restaurants.
It says poor nutrition in the workplace increases sick leave and reduces productivity for workers and may even increase healthcare costs for employers.
Based on biometrics and food preferences, the app sends people recipe and shopping tips outside of the workplace while at work it can be linked up to an office's system so cafeterias can recommend healthy meal options.
Founded in 2011, the San Francisco-based firm has already secured itself $10.3m (€9.37m) in financial backing.
