NPA grassroots voices support for The Health Savings Act

The Natural Products Association says its grassroots network sent more than 1,000 letters of support to Congress for the Health Savings Act.

The legislation, sponsored by Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Rep. Erik Paulsen (R-Minnesota)​, proposes legislation that will allow Americans to buy supplements with their Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) dollars.

“This is a common sense move to help consumers live healthier and more balanced lives, and that’s why our members are mobilizing to support it,”​ said Dan Fabricant, PhD., CEO and Executive Director of NPA. 

“NPA is once again demonstrating its power to act on behalf of consumers through its national grassroots network.  Our organization has led the charge and was instrumental in ensuring the introduction of this important legislation for consumers of natural products and we look forward to working with Congress to ensure its passage.”

According to government data, when HSAs were first available over a decade ago, only 454,000 lives were covered by the plan. Today, 19.7 million individuals are covered under a health plan that is eligible for an HAS
