Mike Walsh: 'The future is an invitation to all of us to think in entirely new ways'
On Monday, futurist Mike Walsh threw some 'mind grenades' into the audience, which he suggested should pay more attention to their kids if they want to know what the future looks like: "Understand how your eight year old thinks and you're a long way towards understanding the future consumer."
In the future, predicted Walsh, "everything, even food, will be a digital product... we'll see a meal we like on instagram and go home and print it on our 3D printer."
Meanwhile advances in genome editing technologies such as Crispr-Cas9 and Talen meant that,"we'll soon be able to edit produce and other living organisms like software," added Walsh, who also anticipated that: "Web pages will be to the future internet what DOS prompts are to modern devices... the internet will start becoming more unconscious, like electricity."
