TMR enters sports nutrition sector with pre- and post-workout range

Trace Minerals Research (TMR) is entering the sports nutrition market a range of pre- and post-workout formulations under the name TMRFit series.

Utah-based TMR is also launching Liquid ZMA, formulated with magnesium aspartate, zinc aspartate, and vitamin B6 to help support healthy sleep, recovery, strength, and endurance. The products will be launched at the Natural Products Expo West event this week.

“Sports nutrition has always been a market in which we thought we could thrive and we feel like now is the perfect time to dive in to this industry,” said Dave Chambers, National Sales Manager for TMR.

“We’re already known in the industry as having one of the premiere lines of performance electrolytes that are manufactured under strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) with the highest quality ingredients, but now we want to expand that line to include clean sports nutrition and workout products for elite athletes who want to take their training to the next level.”

The US sports nutrition market is dynamic and diverse beast, valued at an eye-watering $10 billion for drinks, shots, bars, gels, and supplements.

Scott Boyson, marketing manager for TMR, told NutraIngredients-USA that the company has been doing performance electrolyte products for years, but, “as far as workout-specific products of this type, this is our first time entering this market”.

Breakdown

The Pre-Workout product is formulated with important nutrients like branch-chain amino acids (BCAA’s), creatine, beta-alanine, citrulline, arginine, natural caffeine from green tea and guarana, and B-vitamins to help support mental focus, energy, strength, power, endurance, circulation, hydration, and immune function, said the company. The company has also added its ConcenTrace blend of over 72 electrolytes to support efficient hydration and nutrient assimilation.

The Post-Workout product is formulated with important nutrients like BCAA’s, glutamine, betaine, organic beet root, arginine, HMB (beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate), and taurine to help support recovery, muscle repair and growth, speed, strength, endurance, circulation, and hydration, according to TMR. It also contains ConcenTrace.

Liquid ZMA has been formulated with 450mg of magnesium aspartate, 30mg of zinc aspartate, 11mg of vitamin B6, said TMR, and is intended to help support healthy sleep, recovery, strength, and endurance.

“Liquid ZMA is one of, if not the first liquid ZMA on the market and has also been supercharged with over 72 electrolytes from ConcenTrace,” said the company.

The Pre-Workout and Post-Workout are packaged in single-serving packets and carry an MSRP of $61.69 and $64.89, respectively, for 20 packets. Liquid ZMA comes in a 30 oz bottle, containing 30 servings (MSRP of $30.99).

TMR is also launching introduce Children’s Chewable Probiotic (MSRP of $14.99 for 30-chewables) as a new addition to its children’s line of product offerings.

Boyson told us that the company’s first probiotic product was launched back in 2010 (Probiotic 55 Billion). “It’s done very well for us so doing a children’s probiotic was the logical addition to our probiotic offerings,” he said.

According to Euromonitor, child supplements are growing with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12%, and TMR is definitely seeing growth in that sector, said Boyson. “We have three children’s products so far, and we get requests for children’s products so yes, we have seen growth in that sector.”

The product is a blend of Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium lactis, B. infantis, and B. breve, with each serving is three billion colony forming units (cfu).
