Curcumin
2014 was the year that curcumin went mainstream. There has also been a ramping up of competition between the suppliers, with bioavailability a central focus.
A study funded by OmniActive Health Technologies found that its CurcuWin curcumin form significantly increased serum curcuminoid levels over standard curcumin and some other curcumin formulations.
The study, published in the Nutrition Journal, indicated that formulating curcumin with a combination of hydrophilic carrier, cellulosic derivatives and natural antioxidants (CurcuWin from OmniActive) increased serum curcuminoid levels 46 times over standard curcumin.
The study elicited a strong response from some of the other curcumin suppliers, and since both articles were in the top 10 most-read science articles, we’re grouping them together.
