Laos
While poverty is a factor in Laos, bombs (or unexploded ordnances (UXOs)) are the main cause of undernutrition for the children of Laos. The ‘Secret War’ in the 1960’s and ‘70s left Laos one of the most severely bombed countries in history. The number of UXO’s still covering the countryside is in the millions, making farming and agriculture extremely dangerous and leading to an inadequate food supply and high rates of undernutrition.
