Special edition: GMPs
From warning letters to dry labbing, the attention of many is firmly focused on compliance with, and enforcement of, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). In this special edition we bring together all the news, views and developments in GMPs from the last couple of months.

Both the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) and the United Natural Products Alliance (UNPA) have voiced concern over GMP compliance by dietary supplement companies, and why recent comments from FDA should serve as a wake up call for the industry.

Our article cGMP compliance, time bombs and the ‘ten-ton elephant in the room’ examined how FDA is increasingly focusing on analytical techniques during its inspections, and what this means for industry.

GMPs hit the national consciousness this week with the Dateline NBC expose on dry labbing practices and safety in supplements. In Dateline NBC exposé provides opportunity to fix dry labbing issues we examined the Dateline segment and collected responses from leading industry figures.

The last two articles in our special edition look at statements from the FDA that hinted at increased enforcement of GMPs, and the cautionary tale of the Pennsylvanian supplements company that was shut down due to repeated cGMP violations.
