Diabetes and blood glucose control
Several studies published in 2011 highlighted the potential of a range of ingredients to help address type two diabetes through a range of mechanisms from increasing sensitivity to insulin (magnesium); preventing blood sugar spikes (L-carnitine, buckwheat sugar, leucine); and boosting the function of cells in the pancreas that produce insulin (vitamin D).
So what's with the red wine?
Well, it's a good source of resveratrol, daily supplements of which may improve how the human body responds to insulin, the hormone responsible for sugar and fat metabolism, Hungarian researchers reported in April.
