Time to get tough: FDA turns GMP compliance screws
As the month drew to a close, and the deadline for comments about the FDA’s controversial draft guidance on new dietary ingredients approached, the agency did manage to get some more positive press for once, this time over its tough stance on cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice) compliance.
The message was clear, said the FDA, which filed a permanent injunction against a Pennsylvania dietary supplement manufacturer for failure to comply with cGMP: If you don’t take cGMP rules seriously, you will face the consequences.
