Aker BioMarine bags NBJ’s Growth gong

Krill oil player Aker BioMarine Antarctic has been awarded the Nutrition Business Journal's Growth Award in recognition of the company’s estimated 300 percent growth in 2010.

The company’s sales for the first three quarters of the financial year reportedly exceeded $20 million.

Bruce Wood, president and CEO of Schiff Nutrition International, a supplements manufacturer , said that the Schiff MegaRed 100% Pure Krill Oil brand “continues to outpace the fish oil mass market category, and we appreciate the strong partnership we have forged with Aker, including its' commitment to ongoing clinical research to substantiate the unique benefits of pure krill oil."

“Aker's value chain has been developed in such a way that it is expandable and resilient,” ​said Todd Norton, vice president of business development for Aker. "Our commitment to this product ensures a sustainable supply which we are backing up with human clinical research and product development to help further grow the category."
