Whole Foods twitters for food
Twitter For Food is an event that takes place on the first of every month, designed to engage people, organizations and businesses with the problem of hunger around the world.
Supporters commit to skipping a meal and donating the money that would have been spent to a hunger relief charity. As well as Whole Foods Market, another major industry supporter is Tyson Foods. Some non-profit groups supporting the initiative include Action Against Hunger and Fairfood.
The “simple but vital” effort uses viral marketing to spread the word amongst users of the social media network Twitter, who send out a ‘tweet’ to their followers alerting them to the event.
