“To look at it you wouldn’t know that the recession was on at a show like this. The product innovation continues; ingredients such as omega-3s, probiotics and superfruit extracts and vitamins and minerals continue to be incorporated into a vast variety of products,” he said.
According to the organizers of the trade show, New Hope Natural Media, exhibitor figures were up on last year, with a total 1,900 exhibiting firms.
One much-cited reason for the industry’s resilience in the face of a tight economic climate is a growing consumer focus on health and nutrition as an alternative to expensive healthcare.
