Located in Hyderabad, India - in the so-called Genome Valley - the new plant will draw on an estimated 100 employees. It covers a 200,000-square-foot area and will provide the headquarters for Sabinsa's research and development. The company already has five manufacturing facilities located throughout India, but says demand for its range of ingredients has driven it to open a sixth. "Increased demand for our scientifically backed ingredients coupled with tremendous business opportunity in the Genome Valley presented an ideal opportunity to grow our business and establish a new manufacturing plant in India," said Sabinsa founder, Muhammed Majeed. Sabinsa has more than 50 standardized botanical extracts on the market, as well as Ayurvedic herbal extracts and specialty fine chemical ingredients. One of the company's flagship ingredients is BioPerine, derived from black pepper, which is used in dietary supplements to enhance the bioavailability of nutrients. Sabinsa's ForsLean brand of Coleus forskohlii extract is used in dietary supplements to promote lean body mass. It is said to help shift the proportion of mass in favor of lean body mass, reducing fat tissue and encouraging weight loss. The company also combined three of established patented ingredients in a recently unveiled new weight management ingredient, LeanGard. The proprietary ratio of its clinically researched ingredients includes, Bioperine, Forslean and Garcitrin. Sabinsa is looking to make LeanGard into a branded ingredient recognizable to consumers in an increasingly competitive weight loss market. The company claims to have more than 100 scientists working full time conducting ongoing research in both India and the US, and it has developed a significant portfolio of patents internationally. Sabinsa is also promoting its capacity as a company with sustainable practices that support the communities in which it has facilities. According to the manufacturer, the new plant, as well as the others in India, uses effluent water treatment systems and is environmentally friendly.
