Industry event to discuss pending issues

A conference geared for executives in the dietary supplement
industry has scheduled a speaker from FDA to take questions on many
of the currently pending regulatory issues, such as GMPs and
ephedra, expected to reach conclusion in 2004.

David Elder, director of the Office of Enforcement, Office of Regulatory Affairs at FDA will attend the second 'Focus on the Future' Executive Conference and Retreat taking place January 27-30 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Jon Benninger, director of business development at Virgo Publishing, event organiser, explained: "Issues such as pending GMPs, ephedra, qualified claims and bioterrorism are having a major impact on the industry, and this is a great opportunity for industry to hear from FDA."

The conference program also features other sessions addressing the industry's future, such as science, media, market trends and intellectual property. Speakers include representatives from the Federal Trade Commission, the National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements, General Nutrition Centers, Nutraceutical Corp, Access Business Group, Nutrition 21, AOAC International, Sloan Trends and Solutions and Burrill Company.

The event will be held at the Millennium Resort at McCormick Ranch and concludes with a private VIP tent at the 18th hole of the PGA Phoenix Open on January 30. See here​ for further information.
