The speakers for next year's 'Focus on the Future' executive retreat will include a range of regulatory and industry experts, revealed the programme released this week.
FTC senior attorney Lesley Fair will lead a session on advertising and health claims, Paul Coates, director of the Office of Dietary Supplements at the National Institutes of Health will discuss the role of science and research in the future of dietary supplements and author Michael Fumento wil focus on the role that media plays in the future of the industry.
Market trends will also be discussed, led by Dr Elizabeth Sloan, president, Sloan Trend's Solutions. Dr Roger Wyse, managing director of venture capital firm Burrill & Company and Gail Montgomery, president and CEO, Nutrition 21, will lead a discussion of the role that intellectual property plays in the industry's future.
The event is aimed at leading executives from the dietary supplement and nutraceutical industry and includes networking events and a private corporate tent at the PGA Phoenix Open.
"With critical issues such as threats to DSHEA, pending GMPs, bioterrorism regulations and biased media coverage, we expect a great turnout and an exceptional meeting," said Peggy Jackson, director of publishing at Virgo Publishing.
The event runs from January 28-30, 2004 at the Millennium Resort at McCormick Ranch in Scottsdale, Arizona. More information is available at www.focusonthefuture.net .
