QOL launches new AHCC immunity supplement
AHCC ingredient, is adding ImmunoComplex, a supplement containing
the mushroom ingredient to help maintain healthy immune function.
Quality of Life Labs (QOL), the sole US distributor of the Kinoko brand AHCC ingredient, has announced the launch of ImmunoComplex, an AHCC-containing supplement designed to help maintain healthy immune function.
Described by Steve Yamada, president of Quality of Life Labs, as "a truly complete immune-support formula", ImmunoComplex is available in bottles of 30 capsules, with a suggested daily use of two capsules daily. It consists of a blend of QOL's AHCC (Active Hexose Correlated Compound) - which won the Nutracon Best New Product award in 2002 - astragalus, echinacea and vitamin C.
AHCC is an organically cultivated Japanese medicinal mushroom extract used to strengthen immune response. It has been shown in clinical research to support a healthy immune system by improving the number and function of immune system cells and is used in some hospitals and clinics.
Astragalus is a traditional Chinese medicinal herb that supports T-lymphocyte and macrophage phagocytic function, promotes antibody formation, and potentates lymphokine-activated killer cell (LAK) cytotoxicty activity.
Echinacea, traditionally used by the Native Americans as an immunostimulant, supports the immune system by way of phagocytosis and white blood cell activity including NK-cell and interferon activity. Vitamin C is said to complete the formula by helping the body produce white blood cells needed to fight infection, support the thymus gland and promote phagocytosis.
Designed as a preventative supplement for use year round, the supplement is considered to be especially appropriate during cold and flu season, noted QOL.
