New production facility will allow Acatris and Schouten Products to
tap into the growth market for soy-based products.

Acatris, the company formed recently by the merger of various business in the Royal Schouten Group, and fellow Royal Schouten subsidiary Schouten Products, have opened a new factory in the Netherlands which will produce the SoyLife brand of natural soy germ isoflavone concentrates.

The new factory will allow the companies to expand production of SoyLife as well as guaranteeing its quality and continuity of supply.

Bert Piëst, CEO of the Royal Schouten Group, opened the new factory. He was assisted by Harry Christiaens, managing director of Acatris Holding, and Paul Veth, managing director of Schouten Products.

SoyLife is produced by Schouten Products, while the worldwide marketing and distribution is in the hands of Acatris. The companies said that the new facility would allow them to maintain and further expand their leading position in the market for natural isoflavone concentrates, a market which is showing considerable growth as a result of the growing body of evidence to support soy's beneficial effects on health and wellbeing.

SoyLife is a soy germ ingredient that provides all the isoflavones, proteins, oligosaccharides, vitamin K, folic acid, essential fatty acids and other nutrients naturally found in soy germ. It has been scientifically proven that interaction between these nutrients is essential to good health, and that their combination has positive effects on certain health conditions.

To secure the natural matrix of nutrients, SoyLife is produced through a mechanical process, without the use of solvents, the companies said. Clinical studies have confirmed that SoyLife's mix of micronutrients is capable of providing all the health benefits that soy is known for, which makes it possible for SoyLife to easily improve the nutritional value of an extremely wide variety of foods, they said.
