ChampionLyte Beverages said it has signed a co-packing agreement with Island Beverage to produce the first production run of the newly reformulated ChampionLyte sports drink.

"While we anticipate setting up co-packing agreements with various bottlers around the country, we wanted to be right on top of our first production run," said Donna Bimbo, new president of ChampionLyte Beverages. She added that Island Beverage offered production costs that would allow the company to be very competitive in the marketplace.

The company is currently producing five flavors of the sugar-free sports drink - orange, lemon lime, fruit punch, pink lemonade and blue raspberry - in 20-ounce containers.

Island produces a nationally recognized bottled water product as well as a number of private label beverages, according to ChampionLyte.

The product is expected to be shipped within the next few weeks and the company also indicated that most of the first production run has been pre-sold.
