GMPs under discussion

FDA speakers will discuss the proposed good manufacturing practices with dietary supplement manufacturers at an industry forum prior to SupplySide East.

A panel of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) representatives will address members of the dietary supplement industry on the proposed Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) at an industry forum prior to the SupplySide East show.

The free event will take place at the Meadowlands Exposition Center on May 4, from 5pm to 7pm.

Speakers from FDA will include Karen Strauss, consumer safety officer in the FDA Division of Standards and Labeling Regulations; Richard Williams, director of FDA's Division of Market Studies and Steve Musser, senior chemist at the FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition.

"This is a great opportunity for members of our industry to speak directly with FDA representatives about the proposed GMPs," said Jon Benninger, director of business development at Virgo Publishing, sponsors of the event.

Due to limited space, industry members who wish to attend the event must pre-register online. The pre-registration process includes the opportunity to submit questions for the FDA to address during the forum.

The proposed GMP rule is available on the FDA website.
