Danish food and pharmaceuticals firm Aarhus Oliefabrik signed an agreement this week with Norwegian dairy company Tine Biomarin AS to increase the capital in Maritex, the DNA salts manufacturer Aarhus Oliefabrik jointly owns with United Plantations Berhad. According to terms of the agreement Aarhus Oliefabrikwill have the largest slice of capital with 45.5 per cent, Tine Biomarin next with 34 per cent and finally Malaysian palm oil producer United Plantations Berhad with 20.5 per cent. Although the purchase price was not disclosed Aarhus said in a statement that it expects to make a DKK 20 million (2.68 million euro) profit as a result of the agreement. The announcement on Wednesday came on the same day that Aarhus Oliefabrik revealed a DKK 26 million (3.49 million euro) profit increase for the first half of 2001 compared with the same period last year. A result clearly linked to the Maritex transaction.
