US companies seeking to expand into Europe should focus on the solutions and not the problems of the EU market to ensure success, says the CEO of a leading European scientific & regulatory consultancy.
Cedric Bourges, CEO of the European-leading scientific & regulatory consultancy Nutraveris, which will open a US office on February 1st, 2012 in Morristown, NJ, said that US companies should not be scared of the EU regulatory frameworks and that the European market has a huge potential.
“All is about focusing on solutions rather than on problems when developing business in Europe,” said Bourges. “It’s amazing to see how opinions change about this market when we take a minute to explain how it works”.
The company boasts an online portal providing data on more than 2100 ingredients authorized in Europe through more than 132 market segments.
In addition to health claims, the consultancy said it can provide services for novel foods approvals and issues dealing with food safety.
Concerns in the US that the EU health claims regulation (EC) 1924/2006 is “too demanding” are dismissed by Bourges.
“For an expert company installed in this market since 2005 as Nutraveris, these issues can be successfully managed very quickly,” he added. “We look forward to helping US dietary supplement companies & ingredient suppliers develop their business in Europe”.
