Regular Girl achieves non GMO certification on prebiotic/probiotic supplement
Regular Girl, a supplement that mixes Taiyo’s Sunfiber prebiotic ingredient with probiotics, has met the requirements for a Non GMO Project Verified seal, the ingredient manufacturer announced recently.

For many supplements, verifying the products’ non GMO status would seem almost to be a non sequitur;  after all, very few if any botanicals have ever been targets for genetic modification.  But non GMO status is of interest to consumers and so having the seal is important.

The case is different with prebiotic fibers, however. Some consumers are aware these are carbohydrates that potentially come from common grain stocks, and in this realm non GMO status is of more importance.  Taiyo’s Sunfiber is a purified form of guar taken from the guar plant. Once again, this is not a crop that has been genetically modified. Nevertheless, the certification will be a potential differentiator, said Scott Smith, vice president of Taiyo International.

“Our customers appreciate that Sunfiber’s Non-GMO Project Verification gives them yet another competitive advantage for their products,” Smith said. “Taiyo stands ready to assist all of our customers with getting their product certified, so that they may also use this Verification in their product labeling and marketing.”

Regular Girl contains six grams of prebiotic Sunfiber. Earlier this year, Taiyo received Non-GMO Project Verification for Sunfiber and the company said it worked with Regular Girl to earn this verification on the finished product.
