Net sales at supplements retailer Vitamin Shoppe surged 11.5% to $208.9m in the third quarter driven by strong like-for-like sales in its store estate, 10 new stores and a 12% rise in e-commerce sales.
The firm, which unveiled a sharp hike (27.3%) in operating income in the three months to September 24, also increased gross profit margins, said chief executive Tony Truesdale.
"We realized improved gross profit margins, leveraged our fixed operating expenses and continued to make investments for the future while achieving significant growth in our earnings per share.
"Our results once again demonstrate the unique strength of our retail store portfolio, our evolving multichannel growth model and The Vitamin Shoppe brand.”
