The International Alliance of Dietary/Food Supplement Associations (IADSA) is hosting a workshop in Brazil to discuss regulatory issues in the country and boost success

Representatives from the food supplement sector, scientists, academics and regulators will meet on November 24 to discuss regulation surrounding various types of food supplements, and the level of consumption of vitamins and minerals in Brazil.

Time will also be allocated to review EU regulatory perspectives on the relatively new Food Supplement Directive.

Speakers include Basil Mathioudakis, head of the European Commission’s Food Law Unit, Dr Andrew Shao, VP of scientific and regulatory affairs at the US Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), and Carlos Gouvea, president of the Brazilian Association of the Foods for Special Uses Industry (ABIAD).

“It is also significant that Brazil has been chosen as the venue for this prestigious event as ABIAD is currently working on the challenges facing the Brazilian and Latin American market on food supplement ingredients,” said Gouvea.
