The discussion, which will take place on Friday December 12, will be led by Stephen Sundlof, CFSAN Director, and will also include remarks from David Acheson, FDA Associate Commissioner.
FDA said the aim of the meeting is to communicate its nutrition activities and provide status updates in areas including:
· Functional Foods
· Health Claims
· Evidence Based Review Guidance
· Critical Path project on Biomarkers for use in Health Claims
· Front-of-Pack Labeling
· The collaboration between FDA and USDA's Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion for nutrition education and outreach
· Sodium status
· Implementation of section 912 of FDAAA.
