BioReal, the Swedish subsidiary of Hawaii and Fuji Chemical Industry, will use Lake Chemicals and Minerals as its UK and Ireland distributer from November 1, 2008.
BioReal specialise in microalgae and natural astaxanthin, for both human and animal use.
Astaxanthin is most commonly associated with eye health, but Japan-based Hawaii and Fuji Chemical Industry holds several patents for the use of astaxanthin in applications such as muscle endurance, gastric health and immunity.
A recent study using a BioReal astaxanthin ingredient found mice burned fat more quickly during exercise when they consumed the ingredient.
