Jon Fiume, Chief Operating Officer, Mustard Seed Market & Café

Jon Fiume

Mustard Seed Market and Café currently has locations in the Montrose area of Akron and in the Cleveland suburb of Solon. A third location is to open in the Highland Square area of Akron in the spring of 2015. Mustard Seed Market and Café is a full line natural and organic grocery store specializing in produce, meat, dairy, wine, and general grocery products, as well as vitamins, herbs, homeopathics, and natural health and beauty products. 

Nationally, Jon serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for the Natural Products Association and is the incoming President for 2016.

Jon graduated from John Carroll University, Cleveland, Ohio with a degree in Spanish and a minor in marketing.  He also holds a state of Ohio medical board license to practice massage therapy.

Natural Grocers, a fast-growing chain headquartered in Colorado, has a unique model that splits the store more or less evenly between supplements and foods. The 60-year-old health food chain operates over 90 stores in fifteen states.

His focus is on communicating with local and federal policymakers using frameworks that are non-confrontational and inclusive but ultimately sustainable.

Alan is active in many trade organizations and grassroots groups and sits on the Boulder County Food and Agriculture Policy Council.

Daniel Fabricant, PhD, Executive Director and CEO, Natural Products Association

Dan is responsible for implementing board policy for the advancement and protection of the natural products industry, while overseeing every aspect of the association’s programs and activities. Most recently, Dan served as the Director of the Division of Dietary Supplement Programs at the FDA, where he directed agency policy, public affairs and regulatory action regarding regulation of the dietary supplement industry for more than three years.

Dan earned his PhD in Pharmacognosy from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he has served as an adjunct professor in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy since 2009.

The forum will be moderate by NutraIngredients-USA's Senior Editor, Stephen Daniells.
