Consulting firm Ingredient Identity says its latest client will help it fine tune its regulatory expertise via a partnership involving both consulting and laboratory work. The client, Daane Laboratories, is already in something of a consulting mode in relation to its customers, said Brandon Griffin, CEO of Ingredient Identity.

Founded in 2010, Daane Labs, an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory, has been providing routine GMP testing and contract microbiological method development and validation services. The company recently sought a partner to aid in the expansion of its operations and enhancement of services in order to meet the needs of customers with novel and increasingly complex production requirements.

Lab, as well as regulatoary partner

In addition to providing regulatory consulting support, Ingredient Identity case will also help Daane with certain lab procedures, Griffin told NutraIngredients-USA.

“We have been expanding the team and identifying how we want to grow out in the next few years,” Griffin said. “As a contract lab, Daane is the one that will determine if a product lot goes forward. We will be providing them with a balance of regulatory support, because they already have systems in place.”

“We specialize in making non-routine microbiological methods, routine. Lab support for highly unique or new products and packaging configurations that require compliance, but where ‘ordinary’ microbiological tests do not work well or at all, are what we have built a strong reputation on over the years,” said Andrew Daane, CEO of Daane Labs. “While we still provide compendia and routine microbiological tests that follow existing industry standards, we have found there is a great need for a laboratory partner with distinct development and validation expertise such as ours, that can execute well documented work expeditiously and cost-effectively.”

“We will be providing support as basically an overflow valve.  If in one week or one month they have too much work we can help,” Griffin said.

Daane is based in Naples, FL and a the moment serves the southwest Florida market, including providing support for FDA and USDA import detentions. Naples is close to Tampa, which is the largest and most diversified port in Florida. The company is looking to grow its business within that market and expand beyond, Griffin said.

“Their goal was to find a partner that is familiar with their systems and processes,” Griffin said. “In choosing us they have not compromised their relationship with their clients. We will also be helping them with planning to see how their services can be instrumental in different kinds of ways. We are helping them to achieve their corporate goals in a compliant manner. ”
