The lunch meeting between Congressional staffers and an industry-sponsored education initiative was one of a string of meetings designed to alert Congress to the importance of supplements in health promotion and disease prevention.
Last week’s discussion – presented by Donnica Moore, MD, president of Sapphire Women’s Health Group and DrDonnica.com, and also editor in chief of Women’s Health For Life – focused primarily on the health needs of women and the importance of combining supplements with proper nutrition, sleep and exercise.
The Congressional Dietary Supplement Caucus was set up in 2006 in cooperation with two leading trade groups – Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) and Natural Products Association (NPA). Meetings occur on a quarterly basis, with the next one set for early November.
