Phytonutrient and specialty fine chemicals supplier Sabinsa has donated Y1,500,000 (US$ 20,000) to the Asahi Shimbun Social Welfare Organization to benefit children who lost their parents in the earthquake and tsunami in Japan on March 11, 2011.

The eyes of the world turned towards Japan last spring when the island nation was hit with a 9.0 earthquake and then a tidal wave.

“While all of our hearts go out to the people of Japan as they continue to try to put their lives back together, we wanted to do more,” said Dr Muhammed Majeed, Sabinsa founder.

“While these children’s lives will never be the same, if we can help them get an education, their odds of going on to have productive and meaningful lives are increased exponentially.”

The company also donated Y 1,000,000 (US$ 13,000) to the Japan Red Cross in May.
