The Utah-based company says it is focussing on marine-based product lines following strong growth in the marine nutraceuticals and cosmeceuticals market.
"As consumers broaden their interests in marine actives beyond seaweed, our initial product offering Oave, is a skincare line that unites astaxanthin, irish seaweed, icelandic moss and antarctic krill oil to synergistically meet the demanding needs of the skin," said Travis Martin, founding partner of Oceangrown.
"We will diversify based on growth, offering nutrition and weight management lines to complete various health needs."
Oceangrown is beginning with skincare, which it takes from a combined topical and cosmeceutical approach. Oave is a daily skin supplement, containing the carotenoid astaxanthin and Antarctic krill oil for the omega-3s DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid).
The company sees opportunities for such ingredients across a wide-range of markets.

Increasingly popular ingredients include astaxanthin and fucoxanthin.
Astaxanthin is produced by the haematacoccus pluvialis algae when water supplies in its habitat dry up to protect itself against the effects of UV radiation. Fucoxanthin is a compound found in brown seaweed and has been linked to weight loss.
