New book examines food for disease management

The role of functional food in the management of obesity, diabetes, heart disease and other health conditions is the focus of a new book, which examines the ingredients and science behind the benefits.

Functional Foods for Chronic Diseases: Volume 4 includes contributions from 74 scientists and medical doctors from around the world.

The first part of the book provides information about new functional food products for the prevention of chronic diseases, using human trials. Part two examines compounds tested in vitro and in animal trials, while the third part includes reviews with theoretical approaches on the use functional ingredients and foods to manage chronic disease.

The book, published by FF Publishing and edited by Danik Martirosyan, sells at $229.
