Alkemists Pharmaceuticals has launched a voluntary random analysis service for third party botanical and natural product testing.

The Californian company is offering its services for finished product manufacturers in order to assist them in reinforcing consumer confidence.

The initiative highlights efforts in the dietary supplement industry to show its responsible face in light of allegations it is unregulated.

"I receive numerous inquiries on a daily basis from consumers asking which products pass our analysis," said Elan Sudberg, COO and lab manager at Alkemists Pharmaceuticals. "I am restricted from answering these inquiries given our 3rd party unbiased status and the confidentiality of all our testing."

However, Sudberg said that as part of the new volutary testing service, this will no longer be the case.

"By offering this service to my customers, the consumer will now have the confidence of periodic random analysis in addition to product information to support their purchasing decisions," said Sudberg. "The companies who sign up will have an exclusive opportunity to showcase the quality of their products to the public."

Alkemists will randomly test participating products and these companies will be allowed to use results in their advertising campaigns.

However, if a product does not pass an analysis, these benefits would be removed until a subsequent passing random analysis is performed.
