Krill player Aker Biomarine will donate the use of its trawler the Saga Sea for use in an acoustic survey near the South Orkney Islands off the north-eastern tip of Antarctica, as the company continues its efforts with WWF-Norway.

The company has announced that the trawler will be donated to the researchers for five days every year, and supports sustainable fishing practices and to assist in the collection of scientific data to monitor the health and size of the krill biomass in Antarctica.

"Taking a week from their harvest season to dedicate to scientific study is a substantial commitment and demonstrates Aker's understanding of their responsibility as members of the world-wide community concerned with the health of the Antarctic and its living resources,” said Nina Jensen, Conservation Director at WWF-Norway.
