Omega-3 brand Nordic Naturals is expanding its sports nutrition offering with two new products with NSF International’s Certified for Sport Program verification.

The two new products – Nordic CoQ10 Ubiquinol Sport and Nordic Probiotic Sport – join Ultimate Omega-D3 Sport in soft gels and liquid to support individual fitness and performance goals, said the company.

Kerry Gobei, national pro sport sales for Nordic Naturals, told NutraIngredients-USA that the company is always looking for ways to meet the needs of the sports nutrition market. “We are excited to have two new NSF-certified products to offer athletes of all levels and ages,” she said

“Supplement quality and safety has advanced considerably in sports nutrition,” added Gobei. “Nordic Naturals has led the way with our high-quality NSF Certified for Sport products—Our Ultimate Omega Sport was the first omega-3 fish oil worldwide to have this certification. Its successor, Ultimate Omega-D3 Sport is also certified.

“Currently, Nordic Naturals Sport products are used by professional, college, and high school teams and we see sports nutrition as a growth opportunity as the demand for our products seems to increase at every level.”

Products

The Nordic CoQ10 Ubiquinol Sport product offers 100 mg coenzyme Q10 ubiquinol in extra virgin olive oil, said the company. Studies on athletes have shown that supplemental CoQ10 can support energy production, performance, and recovery from fatigue, and can lower the incidence of muscle injury due to exercise, according to Nordic Naturals.

The company’s new probiotic sport product offers a blend of four probiotics (Lactobacillus acidophilus DDS-1, Bifidobacterium lactis, B. longum, and B. bifidum) for a total of 12 billion live cultures. The product is also formulated with prebiotic fructooligosaccharides. The products are positioned for promoting healthy immune system function.
