Increasingly part of the trade show preparation, Cargill has developed food prototypes, including a raspberry tea to boost bone health, for display at the Institute of Food Technologists' exhibition this month in Chicago.

Cargill Health & Food Technologies will present concepts focusing on women's health, bone health, heart health and energy, including the innovative Bone Appetit, a tea containing its AdvantaSoy Clear isoflavones, Oliggo-Fiber inulin and calcium. Scientific studies show that soy isoflavones may help maintain healthy bones and that inulin may help boost calcium absorption.

The company has also developed a fitness water containing Ascend trehalose, and Dulce de Latte, a caramel flavoured soy-based beverage containing AdvantaSoy isoflavones, Oliggo-Fiber inulin and Prolisse soy protein isolate.

"The functional beverage segment is one of the most innovative in the industry," said Steve Snyder, Cargill H&FT director of sales and marketing. "Clearly, flavored teas fit well into today's healthy consumer's lifestyle. Our goal in creating Bone Appetit and debuting it during IFT is to spur exciting new product ideas with our partners in the food and beverage industry."

The Institute of Food Technologists' Annual Meeting and Food Expo will take place in Chicago from July 13-16.
